Made for Linux

A familiar feel. A more thoughtful flow.

Pkglore aims to make software discovery feel like part of your desktop — not a web shop that happens to install packages.

Discovery that stays honest

Popular starting points meet live search of the package indexes and remotes configured on your own system.

A page for every app

Read the summary, compare available package formats, and choose an install or removal action deliberately.

Works with your setup

Uses system tools instead of a private package store. Privileged actions are confirmed and delegated to package managers.

Installed apps and updates

Check manually installed packages, inspect pending APT upgrades and refresh your package indexes with approval.

Sources stay explicit

See which managers are available. Pkglore does not quietly add third-party repositories behind your back.

Open-source foundations

Built with Python, GTK 4 and Libadwaita. Contributions, issue reports and packaging improvements are welcome.

One interface, multiple formats

Your Linux software. Your choice.

Different package formats have different trade-offs. Pkglore makes your available options easier to compare without hiding where an app comes from.

Debian / APT

Use your distribution's configured repositories and its dependency management.

Flatpak

Discover sandboxed desktop apps through remotes such as Flathub when configured.

Snap

Optional support for systems where snapd is installed and the Snap Store is available.

Quick start

Install it the Linux way.

The recommended route is to install the system dependencies, clone the public source repository, and run the installer. A signed Debian package can be published through GitHub Releases after maintainers set up release signing.

1
Install dependenciesGTK 4, Libadwaita and Python GObject introspection.
2
Get the source from GitHubReview the code, issues and release notes in the same place.
3
Install on your systemUse the project script to install the launcher and desktop entry.

This command becomes usable once the public repository is created. Never run a remote install script without reviewing its contents first.
